Characters, if wrote correctly, will jump off the page and connect with the reader. For an author, the characters nest in their brains and jabber nonstop, "tell them about this", "this is what really happened", "this is what i thought about it", until the author gets so tired of it and finally sits down in front of their computer and writes exactly what their character's are telling them. We are nothing more than glorified stenographers.
Now some of you may think that sounds a little nutty, and in truth it is. Author's have to be a little crazy, it comes with the job.
Where am i going with all of this? Well previously i had mentioned that my next project would be a YA series and at the time i was gung-ho about the books. That is until Anna stepped to the forefront of my mind and said, "I've been waiting long enough." And just like that, the characters from the YA series scurried to the back of my mind and are waiting their turn (with a few sarcastic remarks now and then).
The Anna Avery series was meant to be my next adult paranormal series after i finished telling Gwen Sparks story. But Anna's strong personality and stubbornness decided that Gwen has two books already and it's her turn now.
Hunted (book 2 in the Gwen Sparks series) will be releasing in December and then i will be working full time on Anna's story. The title has changed from Tempting the Wolf to Taming the Wolf and i'm still stuck in between the two because Anna is trying desperately to tame her inner beast but she's also temping her alpha in the process (not that she's meaning to). But i figured Taming and Tempting the Wolf was a bit much, lol. So the title is yet to be decided until i figure out exactly what Anna is trying to tell me.
The first chapter to Taming/Tempting the Wolf will be available in Hunted! I still have every intention of writing book 3 in the Gwen Sparks series and i'll also be working on it during Anna's story, but Anna's story will be released before Gwen's book 3.
Hopefully this all made sense. I have Gwen and Anna fighting for the limelight and jumbling my thoughts in the process.
Now for the teaser!
His eyes raked over my naked body, drinking in the swell of my breasts as they rose and fell with my heavy breathing. Wolves may not share a humans insecurities with nudity but the look on his face had nothing to do with nonchalance and everything to do with a man who desired a woman.
"Don't you crave a man, Anna?" Adam asked, his voice low and husky. "Or do you prefer women?"
"No," i murmured.
"No? You don't crave a man or you don't prefer the ladies?"
"No to both."
Adam took a step forward and my wolf bristled in excitement at the nearness of her alpha. "What about me, Anna? If i was to offer myself to you, would you accept it willingly? Do you crave me?"
My wolf screamed YES! I found him attractive and not just because he was my alpha. He had the looks and body of a God that many women would eagerly worship. I'm not blind or gay, i could appreciate how beautiful he is, but it was all ruined with his way of thinking--primitive.“You are very good looking and many women here would willingly be your mistress, but that’s not the type of woman I am, I’m sorry,” I told him with as much confidence as I could muster.
Teaser from Hunted! As awareness returned to me, I stretched my muscles against cool crisp bed sheets. Buttery gold light beams shone through the windows, lighting the space in a tranquil peacefulness that I hadn’t experienced since getting involved in the brew case with the FPD, a month ago. My life had turned into a dark dangerous place where spirits lurked and vampires hunted. A life where every new face was called into question and every choice second guessed. I hated this life, hated the instability of it all and the suspicions that shaded it.
The scent of jasmine wafted on the breeze carried in by an open window. The sheer ivory curtains danced against its gentle caress and the chirping of birds serenaded the morning. My body was rejuvenated and whole again, a feeling I hadn’t expected to return. No longer was I just a shop owner or a simple witch from Flora. Darkness was intertwined in my soul and had led me down the path of summoning spirits and jumping into realities where demons prowled. My aura was tinged in gray, a sign of walking amongst the dead. Sunshine and summer breezes didn’t fit in that world.
