Name that character...I have a big personality, and my reputation and boy-crazy ways tend to overshadow some of my better qualities. I am an honor student and my favorite subject is home economics. I’m very protective and my little sister Amelia is the most important person in the world to me.

Meet the author

I learned to read at a very early age. I was always telling stories, so it came as no surprise to my family that as soon as I learned how to write, I started writing stories. My first attempt was a book titled "The Mystery of the Twisted Lane". It featured three characters: the corpse, the detective and the killer. It was a little easy to figure out who did it, but it also showed a gift for description and character development. From that point on there was no stopping me. I have begun many novels, and eventually abandoned them. The difference this time has got to be HP Mallory and the fabulous group of writers she invited me to join. Without their support and encouragement I probably would have given everything up long ago.

Aside from writing I am also an artist. I wasn't always into art, but it has been a passion for a while. I was nineteen, sitting in a parking lot staring at a building buried in snow when I suddenly understood how to capture the play of light and shadows on paper. I dabbled over the years, toying with sketching, acrylic paint, Prismacolor pencils and markers. It wasn't until I discovered Photoshop that I truly began to spread my artistic wings. When I realized I was serious about Natural Selection, I decided to try my hand at making my own cover. I got such rave reviews on it, it wasn't long before other authors asked for my assistance. Soon after that I started 4Corners Press with a group of wonderful ladies. If you're looking for cover art, check out the Sharp Covers tab.

Outside of writing and art, I am a self-proclaimed technogeek. I love cell phones, computers, tablets... The internet has to be the greatest invention since the wheel in my opinion. I live in a quiet subdivision with my husband, three cats, and far too many electronics. I have a near crippling Facebook addiction, dwarfed only by my addiction to Dr. Pepper. I enjoy making my own jewelry, and I like to sew costumes. I've always loved Halloween because it's the one day of the year that I can be what ever I want. I love all things bright and colorful, as you can probably tell by my page!  http://somesharpwords.blogspot.com/p/home.html

Picture

Plans are made but when the enemy strikes another painful blow by entering into the heart of pack property and kidnapping Darcy, Mason declares war. There’s nothing he won’t do to keep his future mate and pack safe. Darcy understands the primal instincts driving her beloved Mason’s commands. With the help of those he sets as protectors, she learns about herself and the things she’ll need to help support her Alpha and pack. When events turn dire however, one truth offers her strength – once given, a blood oath is unbreakable … even if it means risking it all.

Excerpt:   “ … I know I’ll spend the remainder of my life fulfilling my promise, even when it means I’m stuck with a family member who thinks he’s reached bad ass status by calling himself Vlad.” He scoffed as he ran his fingers through his hair before crossing his arms over his chest. “Of course, maybe it’s an improvement from his birth name, which was Cuthbert. I calledhim Bertie for short, which annoyed him to no end.” I snorted. “Really?” I asked, loving the way he was sharing about his family. I couldn’t remember the last time he had talked this long about himself. I was almost too hesitant to interrupt. “Well, it could’ve been worse, you know?”
“How so?” He asked, looking curious.
“He could’ve called himself Edward, or Jasper. Sparkling is the “in” thing right now.”
Devlin groaned loudly. “I would’ve staked him myself.”
Laughing hard, I grabbed my sides as I imagined him chasing poor Vlad around the room with a stake. Just when I thought I could stop, an image of Devlin glittering in the sun filled my mind, sending me into another round of hysterics.
“Now what?” he said, scowling at my laughter
“I was picturing what you’d look like as a Cullen. I think you’d totally rock the sparkle.”
“Yeah, enough.” He held up his hand, shaking his head. “Next topic.”

Why I Love My Book:  Witch Way Bends

First off I want to thank Stephanie for giving me the chance to take over her blog.  Since I just published my first book, Witch Way Bends, Book 1 in the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy, I decided to share a little bit about why I love the story so much.

Blurb:

Devan Stowe is a woman on a quest.  She has only one thing on her mind when she teams up with Kent Crosby and his associates—putting an end to her father’s child trafficking business. Her determination takes her on a journey to discover her true strength and… the one man she was destined to love. In his arms, she’ll learn the meaning of trust, honor, and courage. Old friends and new will come together to help Devan unlock an amazing gift that will free her from her past and open up a future full of magic, faeries and more things than she ever imagined possible.

I absolutely adore my characters.  I feel them, see them, hear their voices and know them well.  They’re a part of me and more importantly they’re all intricately tied to one another in some of the most extraordinary ways.

To start, there’s the romantic relationship between Kent and Devan.  There’s a tense draw between them from the very beginning, complicated by the strange interactions of their powers.  But the attraction is something they just can’t deny…

“Auras. Do you see or sense auras? Have you ever had a premonition of something to come, not déjà vu, but a visible premonition? Dreams, have you traveled in your dreams? Have you ever touched someone and felt energy, a spark of who they are?”

“No, no, no! Of course not. What?  Do you think I’m a witch?”

Devan watched the expression in his blue eyes as he approached her slowly. She was again stricken by the absolute refinement of each movement of his body, the swing of his arms and the subtle twist of his torso. He stopped in front of her and his mouth was so close to hers that she could feel the warmth of his breath against her lips. Their eyes searched each other for a moment, then in anticipation she closed hers just before he kissed her.

Her body dissolved against his as her arms clasped tightly around him. She wanted to be closer, to taste him more fully so she stood up on her toes to bridge the gap in their heights. As Kent’s arms snaked around her waist, he bent his own legs slightly and brought her tight between them. When one of his hands clasped her backside and ground her hips tightly to his, she moaned into his mouth, their breaths becoming one.

The relationship between Kent and Devan is second only to Kent’s long-time friendship with Langston.  The affection and attachment between the two men is evident from the very beginning of the book. I wish I could share a piece of that with you, but Langston’s character wraps intimately and yet unobtrusively into almost every aspect of the story – it’s nearly impossible to pull out a single snippet! Langston’s wise, strong and mysterious.  Readers who fall in love with him won’t have to worry because he’ll get his own special story all to himself one day.

If I love Kent, Devan and Langston, many of my readers tell me they love Roon.  Devan’s heard Rooney’s voice in her head since she was just a child and the relationship between them is sometimes juvenile, sometimes warm and most of the time comical…

Damn! I hate it when that happens, just as things were getting hot. Boomchikawowow.

Shut up, Roon! I don’t want you here when I’m–when I’m–and even inside her head she could hear the frustration in her words.

About to get laid?

Screw you, Roon!

Gladly, just turn on that power of concentration I told you about and I’ll –

Witch Way Bends is Book 1 in the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy.  Each book will continue the original quest developed in the first book, but with a focus on different characters.  Check out Book 1 and then look for Bitten Shame Book 2 to be released in the Spring of 2012.

About the Author:

Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child.  Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings.  Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement.  With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words.  She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she’s generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work.  A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband and their puppy Bonnie.  Check out her blog at www.oliviahardinwriter.wordpress.com

My Review

Witch Way Bends is told in third person, which usually isn't my cup of tea, but Olivia Hardin's storytelling abilities made me completely forget about my qualms. Devan Stowe is a strong lead character who doesn't complain about what's happening in her life. I admire a take life by the horns type of girl so i loved Devan.  The connection she had with Kent made the story all the more enjoyable and a bit steamy. I don't want to give too much away but Witch Way Bends has a great cast of characters that will have you turning the page!

Just a quick update to clear the confusion. The second book in the Gwen Sparks Series will no longer be titled, Hunted. The further i got along in the story, the more i realized that title didn't fit. The new title is Deceived. I'm happy to announce that book 2 will be releasing this month! To find out when, follow my Facebook author's page.

I apologize for any confusion the change may have caused and can't wait to hear what you think of Deceived!

So when i asked my friends if they'd like to take over my blog, without any restrictions, little did i know what topics would pop up. I'm happy to have C.G Powell today who's about to enlighten you about the many ways of how sex would work in space......

Zero Gravity Sex – Not Your Mothers Porn

First of all I would like to thank Stephanie for allowing me to heist her blog...You Rock!!!!  It takes a lot of trust to allow me to post with reckless abandon, especially since you know my mind always sits somewhere between NASA’s latest planet discovery and group sex (note:  I didn’t hyper like group sex...Find your own porn!!).

Picture
One of the questions I ask myself frequently is, “How do you have sex in zero gravity?”   Unlike the aliens that visit this planet, we have not become technically savvy enough to figure out how to create artificial gravity.  So, what is the next best option...Velcro, duct tape, spandex suit for two, they are all viable options, I mean at this point just keeping contact with one’s partner is a challenge in itself.   I think they should consider a small closet like room with padded walls and a low ceiling for leverage...I mean really, you only need to have six inches between you to make this work.

Picture
What other ways do you think we could use?  Should we just wait for artificial gravity?  And if we were to go to this new planet, which celebrities should we take with us?  For procreation reasons, I’m thinking the Duggars and Octimom....

About C.G POWELL

Picture
As a teen C.G. Powell was selected as a member of her school's newspaper staff. After her first article the editor decided the darkroom was a more suitable place for her skills…or lack of. Since then, she has traveled everywhere—thanks to her innate curiosity about the world and the Navy. In her life time, she has learned: aviation electronics, CCNA networking, Gemology and how to get bloodstains out of the carpet (you never know when you might need that). But her latest, all-consuming, endeavor is storytelling. When asked why, her response was "I live to challenge myself; I like to be pushed outside of my comfort zone and writing is one of those things that pushes my boundaries. Besides it was the only way to share all of the crap bouncing around in my head!"

Beck and Helen’s love...

MY Review

I loved everything about Spell Checked. There are a lot of paranormal books out there and a lot are told the same way. With Spell checked we get the witches and vampires we all love to read about, but their back story is so unique it'll feel like you're reading about a whole new genre. The witches and vampires descend from an alien race which i found very interesting. The characters are funny, sexy, and tough! I'm very much looking forward to the sequel of the No Uncertain Logic Series
